levy,

For you, I'll actually answer this question (in part so that I restore your confidence in my psychological stability).

The set of links that you refer to are what we call our "Security-Centric" links, i.e. they link to additional information pertaining to the security that you are currently reviewing.

*Most* of the security-centric content that we provide is delivered to us via feeds, where we get the raw content and then format it and display it on pages that we host.

However, for some of the security-centric content (such as Broker Research and Institutions data), the pages are actually hosted by a third party content provider (Multex or the Carson Group). Our content partner co-brands the page to make it look and feel like Silicon Investor, but we do not pass along any personal customization preferences or any cookie information. Therefore, those pages display a "generic" navigation bar, instead of your customized version.

In a couple of cases, we have utilized a framed implementation where the header (with custom navigation) comes from our servers, and the bottom frame from the partner's servers. However, this doesn't always look great, especially on smaller monitors, so we shy away from that, and will most likely convert those to non-framed pages at some point in the future.

Thanks for asking,

Bryan
