It is not man that is winning the race

by which I'm trying to say that: if advanced consciousness and complexity decided to temporarily (whatever that means) utilize that particular modality (dinosaurs) as its carrier...so what? They had consciousness (perhaps quarks do, too); So I don't see any conflict here with the observations of evolution, and our theoretical meanderings...

Tomorrow~

<<Lovelock sees a coevolutionary process obtaining in the planet and its biosphere, wherein life is cooperating amongst all its parts to preserve and advance life. >>

Oh yeah I saw a PBS special on this guy and his theory many years ago.

I was impressed

Although I never quite thought of it as necessarily a consciousness.

Living things can strive toward a steady state without an awareness,no? I'm not sure a shared consciousness would be necessary.Just some sort of feed back.....The earth begins to get too warm........ many living organisms respond , etc.

Life is so resilient. I believe there are instances where individual primitive species manipulate their immediate environment for their benefit .......Why not all species?

It's been quite some time since I've seen this documentary so forgive if I've screwed up the basics.

<<I think we allow the alien perception of the dinosaur's bodies to obscure the true point (IMO) of evolution...progress toward sentience, complexity, and IDENTITY >>

Since you said "the most complex and the most conscious creature has made it to the top," I assume you believe Brain size is relevant to the above.

If so my point is that there would be less of the above as the dinosaurs had shown no evolutionary progress toward increased brain size in 150,000,000 years.....Maybe I'm projecting my own definitions here.

<<reverse reductionism, >>.......Himmmmmm.....I don't know the term.
