I have a brain, and I care whether the next president of the United States committed felonies as a young man, i.e., cocaine-related crimes. We all should care.

For the record, I did NOT vote for Clinton in '92 or '96 because he was less than honest with the American people. Similarly, I'm looking now for a good dose of honesty from George W. Bush. And so far I haven't seen it.

Ann Richards readily acknowledges she has a substance abuse problem and is battling it one day at a time. I'd rather put someone like that in the White House than someone who had a problem (still has a problem?) and refuses to acknowledge it.

What I'm seeking is candor and honesty out of all those running for high office, regardless of party. That includes Teddy Kennedy, President Clinton, George W. Bush and all the GOP congressmen who attacked Clinton and who Larry Flynt disclosed fathered children out of wedlock and have since played no part in their children's lives.
