The more I think of it an AMD-Transmeta alliance could be a beautiful thing. Especially with heavy amperage Athlons sucking up battery power...
It you need the power, get the mobile Athlon, if you need practicality, get the TransAMd (they could call it the Firebird) chip...and run Linux...even cheaper...

Then again, I've always been a fan of the cheap notebook....especially after throwing away a couple $2500 notebooks....after they go obsolete...

As long as the Transmeta runs Windows AMD has an out if Microsoft gets nervous....
