First of all, thanks for joining in the fray here. But I have to wonder at the optimism of the pundits for the uptake of broadband. I have written previously on this subject:

And I would think that the normal Internet user (not you and I) is not about to adapt broadband connectivity until it matches dial-up pricing and doesn't seem to threaten the family. Huh? Righto, since the biggest money maker on the Internet today is pornography (33% of UUNet's revenues, Hi Bernie, how that Church social goin'? Great!) and a lot of families still actually care about family values, we are not going to see any massive shift to broadband coming out of middle America. I think the technologists may be having a damp dream about the prospects here. JMHO
