merry, amzn's story from the getgo was that we'll make a ton of money if we just sell enough
product. this deal w/ toys r us is a tacit admission that they were wrong.

Skeeter,

So why does Bezos receive more than $50 million out of Amazon already and he still has a ton of shares? The $50 million plus is his to keep. That does bother me that he becomes "Man of the Year" and very wealthy with a failed business plan.

the term "business practitioner" seems to fit amzn and most e-tailers. they keep practicing
b/c they don't know what works. -ng-

It has been my opinion right along and I believe the opinion of most etailer's management and the analysts that this concept was flawed from the beginning. The story was always spun to the plus side so the insiders would be come very wealthy and the underwriting firms would make a ton on this too. I do not believe that so many people could not see what the result would be. Anyone with any retailing experience would have understood this from day one.

This brings up another issue that has always bothered me. Why in the world would the equity markets be willing to give Bezos billions to try and run a retailing firm when he had never had any retailing experience? That stings of plain odd from the beginning.
