RESEARCH ALERT - Lehman raises Intel earnings, rev estimates
NEW YORK, Aug 21 (Reuters) - Lehman Bros. on Monday raised earnings and revenue estimates on Intel Corp. (NYSE:INTC - news), the world's biggest chip maker.

In a research note, analyst Dan Niles said:

-- raised earnings per share (EPS) estimate for fiscal 2000 to $1.74 from $1.70.

-- raised EPS estimate for fiscal 2001 to $1.90 from $1.85.

-- raised total revenue forecast for fiscal 2000 to $36 billion, from $35.4 billion.

-- raised total revenue forecast for fiscal 2001 to $42.7 billion from $41.7 billion.

-- $88 price target by year-end.

-- ``We believe that Intel is seeing the most front-end loaded third-quarter in many years and is booked out for the quarter.''

-- shares closed on Friday at 70-9/16 on Nasdaq.

Kirk, >Dan Niles at Lehman has upped his forecast for Intel.< That's good for all. I hope not too much of it is due to unrepeatable investment gains.
