Liberty Digital, Sony plan interactive TV network

Interesting, given LMGA's stake in GMST...I sure seems that GMST would be involved in this, doesn't it?

Liberty Digital, Sony plan interactive TV network

LOS ANGELES--Liberty Digital said today that it would buy a 50 percent stake in Sony Pictures Entertainment's Game Show Network for $275 million in cash and stock, with an eye on further expanding its reach into interactive television.

Liberty Digital, the new media unit of AT&T's subsidiary Liberty Media Group, plans to pay Sony $225 million in cash and $50 million in stock. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter and is subject to closing conditions and a definitive agreement.

The two companies aim to create a 24-hour-a-day television network that uses properties of the Internet and digital set-top boxes to allow viewers to participate in games from home. The Culver City, Calif.-based Game Show Network has 29 million subscribers.
