I'm not sure that global warming is nessiarily just melodrama, but the evidence presented here (not only a hole in the artic ice but supposedly the first one in 50mil years) does strike me as melodrama. We are not in the warmest period in the last 50mil years. The tempeture evidence is very mixed and even if you look at the side of the data that does support the global warming theory the changes in tempature are not dramitic enough to have once in 50mil year occurences caused by it. It seems every time we have a warm summer or a mild winter its "global warming". This summer has not been particularly hot (at least on the east coast) is that evedence that global warming is a hoax? Of course not.

Tim,

I don't think that warm or cold summers this year in the East coast or the Midwest or Germany or Nepal in and of themselves are evidence of global warming. However I do take seriously documented evidence that average global temperatures continue to increase and have done so for several decades now, that island states in the Pacific are threatened with extinction due to rising waters, that the hole in the Ozone continues to grow, and now that there is water where ice used to be at the North Pole.

Call me an alarmist but those are things that invoke my concern.
