Ratbert <The company will probably let it be known officially the P-IV is slipping by a few months to late this year or early next.>

And then the SOX will sink and AMD along with it ...

Re: let it be known officially

sounds like that it is coming from intel but they have not released the news "officially" yet.

Funny enough but that news seems to be hurting amd more than intel :-0

I had my suspicions. When have Intel not slipped on any product ship recently? They are obviously desperate not to let anyone benchmark a Willy.

Problem is this is bad news for AMD. Intel can keep on shooting their mouth off about their paper product and everyone (present company excepted) will just swallow it.

AMD now has the processor performance lead for another six months and yet this will still be regarded as short term only. The Athlon 1.4 will comes out at about the same time as the Willy 1.4 and we will get some "Willy was designed to scale better and will soon leave Athlon behind".

re: "Whoa! How did this slip by?

It has not. The current action in iTs common may only be transitory. Further when the analysts digest it further the prevailing thinking may be that the pee4 wafer starts to date are junk and that they are only now starting the runs that will result in saleable products. A similar announcement from AMD and the common (AMD's) would tank.

Regards,

DARBES

P.S. If there is a down draught, do not expect AMD to be immune to it.
