Not so much the nutrients but the structure of the soil is improved with organic matter. Manure and sludge both have N and P, too much N actually, K needs to be lightly added. Organic N bound in sludge tends to break loose and be usable over 5 years. 20% the first year, 16% the second.... Where liquid synthetic N, 60-0-0, is released at once and in a wet year can go anerobic and become toxic unless it's treated with N-Serve.
