Not always. Green corn is cut for silage, stalks are being used as bedding.

And where do you buy this wonderful machine? Every combine I've seen harvest corn uses rollers to crush the cob to release the kernels. Where does the disc fit on the back of a combine? Hooked to the chaff spreader? Combines have rear wheel steering, do a U turn while picking and you'd be discing your drive wheels.
