Sure the MI peaked in his term, but I'm unlikely to blame, or give credit, to any President for macroeconic things that happen in his term. There are just too many other people, factors and causes to do that. What was Congress doing during that period? Don't they have the "Power of the Purse" as direct powers according to the Constitution? What act of Congress did Carter veto that would have brough an end to stagflation. Get a grip. Interest rates all over, not just the US, were high. And it sounds like if you think that someone who got one of Carter's Habitat of Humanity houses isn't worthy of an opinion or that invalidates the opinion they have. I doubt X got one, but even if she did, that doesn't invalidate her position on Carter. Further, are you lining up to blame Eisenhower for the Cold War or Korea with equal venom? Or Nixon for Viet Nam (I'm on record saying that was Kennedy and Johnson)? So maybe you need to think outside of the box a bit more before you dismiss someone of genuinely good spirit. I am speaking of Carter, not necessarily X. But, If X does live in a Habitat for Humanity home, and she said Carter did more good things after he left office than other Presidents who left office, then I still agree. Remove clause 1 or negate it and it is still true. Therefore, her dwelling is irrelevant from a logical point of view. You do support logic and eschew personal attacks in arguments of fact, don't you? BTW, isn't HFH one of those 1000 Points of Light that abrogates the responsibility of the government for the health and well being of the poor? I thought we are supposed to like that kind of thing.
