re:

"Is capital gains needed so badly?"

"Comment: 'fraid so...they've been snookered by AMD on all fronts in the microprocessor marketplace with the sole exception of servers...darn good thing they've got the "capital gains" parachute...they'll need it over the next 2 quarters now that AMD has finally reached "escape velocity" with its Athy production out of Dresden!!!"

Oh for crying out loud niceguy...wake the hell up. AMD has come back from the depths to do a nice job and should be a good growth story for the forseeable near future, but "snookered on all fronts with the sole exception of servers"...gimme a break. What about notebooks...AMD is getting their clock cleaned. What about the commercial market...why hasn't Compaq or HP or anyone else began pushing AMD based systems into corporate America? The answer is because corporations are not asking for AMD based systems. I was back at my companies headquarters in New Jersey last week and talked to our IT VP and asked if the company was considering qualifying any new AMD based PC's (we buy Compaq and IBM primarily)..his answer "not on my network". Unfortunately, that attitude prevails. AMD with their OEM partners has done a nice job of providing good systems at a good price at the Circuit City's of the world. Because of this they have become a good turnaround story with a probable solid future. But "they'll need it with escape velocity the next 2 qrts" and all that is just garbage. If you truly believe this then load up on a bunch of short term out of the money options.....you may as well double down. Good luck.
