I don't think either party is any more serious about the issue. Politics can very costly. You have to raise money.

McCain Feingold is one sided. Suppose Republicans passed a legislation banning all contributions by unions (both kinds, the one where individual union member gives approval for giving and the one where union member is forced to contribute). Wouldn't Democrats oppose it? Would it mean that Republicans are for campaign reform and Democrats are against?
