We take our cue from Albert Yu, Elmer. If 217mm2 is only "slightly larger" than the cumine die, you can say almost anything. Of course, you've been saying almost anything for a long time. Everybody's still waiting for that cumine flood that will bury AMD, though the fear is waning and bemusement is waxing.

Re: Well looks like you're too stupid to count. 1.133GHz is only 1 notch above 1GHz.

So, let's count together:

1.100 Ghz (10x100) = ONE
1.133 Ghz (8.5x133) = TWO

Is this so difficult? At least I expected you to be able to count up to three. But then again, you spotted "several" ready to be shipped Gigamine boxes at last IDF as well. Maybe you made the same mistake? I'm glad I could help you out on that.

Andreas

elmer, you must feel really good about the next-generation wonder from Intel. The P4 marketing team may need some good slogans to push this stuff. How about: "We are big, but we are slow", or "Big is beautiful, and size does matter"?

> 1.133GHz is only 1 notch above 1GHz

I do not mean to exacerbate this discussion, but for the 133MHz bus PIII, a notch has traditionally been 66MHz (it's gone 533, 600, 667, 733, 800, 866, 933, 1000). You may also remember that the limited availability 1000 was introduced before the 933 was released. So it is not stupid at all for somebody to argue that 1133MHz is two notches above 1GHz and that Intel may fill the gap at one point with a 1066MHz PIII (I hope they don't, as I like Intel's recent training of the market to accept hundred MHz leaps between speed grades).
