slacker- Thanks for the stats. I'll try to paste them over and connect to my previous figures soon. That way they will be their for future DD reference in case the website pulls that page.

Would you happen to have an update to my 1999 mobile wireless equipment leader stats:

"From an investment perspective, the more important number is the total number of handsets sold....Next year should provide the first breakthrough for mobile phones from simply voice communications to a combination modem/PDA/entertainment device."

slacker- I agree with the above. IMVHO, I would guess not next year, but the following. Irregardless the impact would be the same. Incredible sales growth for the suppliers of handsets.

Would you happen to have a url on a current picture of the leaders in handset sales? It would be nice to get numbers on the rankings and a mid-year 2000 update. Here's what I have from an older Wall Street Journal article dated February 11th, 2000.

1. Nokia
2. Motorola
3. Siemens
4. Alcatel

I wasn't quite sure where the handset figures were listed in your referenced GSMWorld url. I could only find subscriber statistics, and not handset sales. Did I miss some detail on their website or were you simply making a general comment about the industry growth? Thanks. -MikeM(From Florida)
