You definitely know your CPU stuff, but it was common knowledge that a longer pipeline is not as good in IPC as a shorter one, but can make up for it in overall performance because of cycle time. BTW, nice to see the term cycle time come back some vs. "clock". JMO.

So how come AMD is the only component company in the universe that is lowering prices (a lot) in this amazing tech product boom? Do they like giving money back to their customers?

Personally, I don't believe this. The benchmarks Intel will provide with Pentium 4 will show the IPC is far closer between Pentium 4 and Pentium 3...and even closer between Athlon and Pentium 4.
