Dan, we realize that you subscribe to AMD's business model of "Build it and they will come." But in servers, Intel does one heck of a job communicating with customers, validating platforms, and making sure everything works damn well enough for the enterprise. This takes a lot of effort for every speed grade introduced. In this case, Intel released the Cascades 700 MHz speed grade in order to get that new processor out as soon as possible. A few months later, Intel improved yields enough to introduce the 800 MHz speed grade, but that would have involved a lot of validation work, and customers just didn't want that. So Intel held back on the release, not because they have yield problems at 800 MHz (anymore), but because they had to intro the 700 MHz speed grade ASAP.

I think you owe this thread an apology for your patronizing attitude. Either that, or some of us might have to patronize you every time you take Jerry Sanders' statements at face value.
