Politicize it if you wish...the failure of that operation was a military blunder, pure and simple. How many months do you need to plan a rescue mission? And they forgot to put filters on the motors? <ggg> be a fool ...be an apologist , it suits you. That LBJ was dragged further into the "other" war in Vietnam might just have been that he recieved constant erroneous reports from the generals early on, that it was a "winnable" war and they were winning...they were completely out of control. Also our dear Republican Hawks in Congress , who banged the drums loudly over communism .There was always more than met the eye there....and yes it did finally blow up , didn't it...made many doves where once there were none to be found.....didn't it Terrance? there were votes to be had ...and the country had rounded another bend. Oh well , republicans re~invent themselves everyday. To call that war a democratic war is such an entirely moronic statement ...you outdo yourself completely. But you are full of the wind aren't you? ;-) mars
