First Commercial Samples of 288Mb Rambus DRAMs Available from Samsung;
World's Leading Memory Supplier Now Provides Its Customers With Up To
2GB of RAM Capability

SAN JOSE, Calif., Aug 24, 2000 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.
today is the first to announce the availability of commercial samples for the
288Mb Rambus(R) DRAM.

As the world's leading supplier of DRAM and Rambus, Samsung now provides
customers with these high-density commercial parts for qualification in work
group servers and workstations. The 288Mb RDRAMs enable Error Correction Code
(ECC) system configurations providing high reliability on data integrity for
fault tolerant environments. Samsung is the only supplier providing reverse
packaging on RDRAMs, so 16 components can be put on one module instead of just
8. This means 288MB and 576MB RIMM(tm) modules will be available this fall,
providing OEMs with the capability of having 1 to 2 Gigabyte of RAM in a system
with 1 or 2 Rambus channels respectively.

"We have worked closely with developers on the preparation of Rambus-based
systems and the 288Mb Rambus DRAM gives our customers the benefits of
high-performance memory in a convenient 36Mbyte increment," said Bob Eminian,
Samsung's vice president of marketing and communications. "Rambus is one of
Samsung's strategic focuses as a market-maker, and we anticipate a growing
demand for the 288Mb RDRAM(R) with the introduction of Pentium(R) IV systems and
consumer electronics needing this bandwidth/granularity combination."

Though DRAM prices have increased due to shortages, the prices of Rambus DRAMs
have remained stable. Samsung forecasts that up to 7% of the total DRAM market
in 2000 will be Rambus DRAM, and predicts it to grow between 15% to 20% in 2001.

At the Intel Developer Forum, Samsung will be exhibiting its full DRAM product
offering demonstrating its commitment to technology, leadership, and choices in
memory, including Rambus, DDR, and PC133. Additionally Samsung will be showing a
12" (300mm) wafer of its 256Mb SDRAM, Smart Media, and graphics memory. Visitors
will also be able to peruse MyMemoryStore.com, Samsung's online distribution
store.

Looks like the short term traders in RMBS took their gains for the week, sold and went home...good chance to reload or load more for those who missed..RMBS is far more than a one-week story.

Re:QCOM..we just ran a study of option premiums, what was amazing is the pessimism that premiums for QCOM calls represent...we believe that translates into "value" and have started to accumulate QCOM calls as it seems the selling is exhausting itself. Notice how low the volume has gotten in QCOM. A "virtuous" news cycle is on the way in QCOM and the market is not pricing ANY of it in..just thought I would share our work with the porch.
