Abit's KA7 uses unbuffered DIMMs, even for the 512M parts, and you are correct that they are not standard. My VAR had to order them direct from Apacer. This could be the case with other boards as well.

You can get 2 Gig (unbuffered) on an Athlon board, but, as you've said, it isn't typical.

Ramtron (Mushkin) is selling PC133 CAS2 512MB DIMMs. They have 1GB PC133 CAS2 DIMMs. Although the prices on them are very high.
