I take Microsoft's decision to depart from NT with Win2000 as either an admission that NT wasn't a suitably flexible base on which to build, or as an attempt, despite their antitrust problems, to gain a market advantage by breaking the software of other vendors.

But that's JMHO.

Mutual funds may come loading back on MSFT - The reason MSFT went down may be that big fund manager's had cut holdings of MSFT by about 50% - see news out today on 2nd Q fund action report. What wil happen to softy when funds add MSFT positions back as they see the company starts revenue acceleration and keeping winning suits. Like the 7-0 win record on private suits.
