Possibly, possible not. Random and unreproducible failures due to hardware are so hard to track down, especially if only a small number of installations suffer from them. As hard as software development is, it's easier than developing reliable hardware IMO (that's one reason why I develop software and not hardware :) until you start dealing with poorly designed multi-threading software (like Windows for example). It is a constant surprise to me how reliable the latest gigahertz hardware systems are, pushing up against the speed of light so hard as they do. As Intel showed with their Pentium FDIV bug back in 1994, it's not having a problem that's the problem, its how you respond to it. Sun have at least acknowledged their failures and taken steps to act on them. You can't really ask for more than that, unless of course you are perfect yourself. P.
