Frank,

Something in the 700-800 would do me just fine. I am sure I am not the only person feeling that way.

That seems to be the company line when discussing PIII. For some reason, MHz suddenly becomes very important when Intel is discussing P4. Weird isn't it???

Re: I really do believe that the launch tomorrow may be a non-event..... Maybe we really will see the AMD moonshot tomorrow.

Frank,

You misunderstood my statement. I don't expect AMD to rally tomorrow. I expect AMD to release a 1.1 Ghz part that has wide availability, which is more important in the long term anyway.

With the 1 Ghz launch, followed by the 1.13 Ghz launch, Intel is turning into the boy that cried wolf. Whatever happened to building up supply and doing a "stealth launch"? They have no credibility with their high speed parts anymore. It appears they are going to do a paper launch of Pentium 4 as well. The old Intel would wait until next year when there's a decent supply of parts.

I'm glad AMD has stopped this pissing contest and didn't feel the need to release the 1.1 Ghz when Intel did. I'm sure they will be rewarded for this integrity by their customers, and eventually in their stock price (not tomorrow though).
