Frank,
RE:"I am not in the company and am not a tech person at all. My comments apply equally to Intel and AMD. This Mhz race needs to take a break. I don't know how to break the news to you, but no one cares.
People on these threads get terrible tunnel vision. You would think that the future of western civilization depends on who makes it to this Mhz or that gigabyte first.
I would love to see Intel call a halt to the madness and concentrate its CPU energy on perfecting what they already have. AMD can do what it wants..."

Actually, as a AMD shareholder I'd like to see Intel be satisfied with a couple hundred Mhz less than AMD...

OTOH, you've been arounD here long enough to see the competative nature of the Engineers. So, don't expect them to rest on their laurels.
Of course, I totally disagree with you statement...
"no one cares"...Except in the case of Cyrix and IDT whose chips couldn't scale and no one cared enough to buy them.

On another hand...as an Intel investor I'm shocked you don't appear to realize how they have kept the competition at bay over the years...by providing a moving target...increasing speed...
