Hi Gene,

As a MM, is it easy for you to spot people jumping into the spread ahead of the best bid/offer, and what makes you withdraw your bid/offer if you see this?

Watching Level II, it is sometimes really hard for me to figure out what the various MMs are up to, especially on fast moving stocks, and big volume stocks. I'd love some insight into what you're looking for, and why, and how you respond. And, how you do it so fast.

TIA,

Walkingshadow

Gene,

Sorry if you have answered this before. I have always wondered what benefit there is to a MM showing themselves (tipping their hand) on L2 instead of using an ECN. The only answer I can see is that if another MM wants to buy/sell a lot of stock they know which trading desk to call. Is this correct? Are there other aspects that I am missing?

Thanks
Dustin
