Ten,

How do you think Wall Street would react if this ever happened to Itanium after its launch?

Based on today's action, I'd guess INTC +5, AMD -2, SUNW -7

Ten,

The street hasn't reacted yet to this one, and you are trying to figure out how they will react to an Itanium misfire. LOL

Given that this one came early in the launch, I think the reaction will be muted and the stock will slide only a little. However I think if there is another significant problem with a launch that results in lost revenues, Intel could get downgrades, and then the stock will tank.

By now, I think Intel is seriously cutting into its long
history of good execution and reliability. Given what's happened in the past year, I am surprised this was allowed to happen....apparently the past misfires raised little concern at Intel. I have to believe that strong steps will be taken now to prevent a reoccurance in the future.

Is there any reaction within the company?

What a strange question...I don't think there would be much reaction. Frankly, I don't think anyone outside of Intel cares much about Itanium.
