All things considered, the small dcache on Willy is going to hurt performance significantly.

He goes on in the thread. Just keep following it. I think his point eventually becomes that for 1.5GHz CPU's, either the latency of the L1 must be increased, or the size of the cache must be reduced. Is this valid?

Scumbria asked: Is Paul Demone an Intelabee?

I would say from reading him, no. If you follow his articles at Real World Technologies or when he discusses Semiconductor issues at Aces Hardware, you will see he on the while is objective. In fact .. he has some very pointed criticisms of the way Intel is going about the whole IA-64 project.. He just is admitedly a bigger booster of Williamette and how he feels it will turn out then a lot of other people. He freely admits to being in the minority so far on that. Quite frankly I wish somoene would have offered him one of those free SI memberships you guys had floating around a while back (and the reason I am here). He would offer a lot of insight.
Unfortunately.. if you wish to debate him.. you'll need to go to Aces Hardware and post something to him to get a response, but he's a good guy.
