Re: "Given past misfires, have there been any changes implemented within the company to prevent such problems in the future?"

Back in '95 when Intel suffered the FDIV problem, the manager of the Pentium project, Vin Dham, "resigned for personal reasons". I wouldn't mind seeing someone do the same along about now.

Ted, <Given past misfires, have there been any changes implemented within the company to prevent such problems in the future?>

I knew what you were asking before, but I just wanted to have a little fun with this ... er ... slip-up.

Part of the problem is indeed the possibility that Intel is losing focus of its core business as the company expands into new areas. The latest reorg is intended to address this problem, though it could just turn about to be yet another Dilbert-esque reorg just for reorg sake.

As for what Intel is doing to prevent misfires like this in the future, I don't know. I can't imagine Andy Grove, Craig Barrett, and Albert Yu letting this go by like it was nothing.
