Actually, I thought it was covered pretty thoroughly, considering that there were no allegations against George H.W. Bush. Anyway, it was investigated through the ordinary channels, since it involved a private citizen.

Historically, it is Democrats who are most prone to graft, and Republicans who are the "Good Government" types.
