Rande, you made a comment about stocks (doesn't matter which ones) and said "only if you are a long-termer."

Haven't been trading for several weeks now as I am involved in other things, but did listen tonight with great interest on local biz radio to a VP of a major brokerage firm who was discussing the fact that some of her "long-term holder" clients might no longer be right for long-term investing, and that many good stocks are no longer good long-term holds.

She's apparently had a lot of calls from confused investor-clients who wonder whether her firm "misplaced" tens of thousands of dollars in their accounts, once they studied their monthly statements...when in reality they just don't watch the market everyday and have no idea how much it is fluctuating with volatility.

According to her, some of these same clients call later when their next monthly statement reveals much or more of the money has been "recovered", and the client thanks the brokerage firm for "correcting the error."

She made the point that stocks used to move down a few points and no one noticed, but now move down (or even up) tens of points.....quite a difficult and mean environment for the average American who doesn't follow the market every single day and simply looks at monthly performance statements, and holds the portfolio manager or broker accountable for the change.

The market is definitely changing....you must be a trader even if you don't want to be, if you want to stay ahead of the game, in my humble opinion.
