Re: It's a shame it's come to that. Intel has ten times the resources of AMD, in every aspect of their business. How the h*ll did it get to the point that they are in a speed race, where they have to be defensive? These are the guys that invented the microprocessor, they make over $3 Billion a quarter, they have 10,000's of employees. They spend probably ten times as much as AMD on R&D. They have more engineers than AMD has employees.

John,

You may have just answered your own question.

Last year AMD filed more patents than Intel. Frankly, this makes no sense to me.

I'm not sure that filing more patents really means much, but it does seem odd.

Re-<As a stockholder, I sure would like to hear
what they are going to do to catch up to AMD in technology and execution.>

John,
They are "paranoid" about the competition to the point where they are chasing and they are trying to force old technology to go faster. They may get away with it this time but if they continue with this pattern and hurt their image and perception of the company and their reliablity, quality, you will see more other processors in IBM, COMPAQ, HP, GATEWAY, DELL. And when that happens, the analysts and the market will react. If they are smart they should be reading the message boards or threads to really understand how investors perceptions are changing about how they handle their business.
