DMA: What am I missing here? Which president was dumb enough to read Peggy Noonan's "Read my lips" speech without running the numbers by the bean counters first? There should be no need to raise taxes if you realign spending priorities. We need less money for guns, bombs and bullets now that the Cold War has ended. That would a starting point. Step No. 2 would be to increase the income tax on the very wealthy. You'd be surprised how little it takes to live on.
