I didn't ask why there was hooliganism in Western Europe and not Eastern Europe. I wondered why there is rampant hooliganism in Anglo-Germanic Protestant Northern Europe but not in Latin Catholic (and much more civilized) Southern Europe.

That's what I've always enjoyed about American versus European football... in the U.S. the violence is _on_ the field, not off of it.
