Hi Cap'n Rocky,

why would intc pay rmbs royalities?

Why would any one pay RMBS royalties? They make SDRAM controllers don't they?

intc doesn't produce memory.

Last time I looked this wasn't entirely true, although RMBS hasn't made any claims on SRAM or Flash as far as I know.

you also miss the point that intc processors are out growing sdram and needs rmbs tech to move on and sell the latest new and faster items.

I'd like to see somebody prove this in or out of a court of law.<g>

these lawsuits are pre-emptive strikes by cos. who are just looking for better terms. done for awhile. the dust will settle and rmbs will win the day.rocky

Well the dust will definitely settle. But that's about the only bit of that I'm ready to agree with.

It seems the INTC thread has given up on INTC needing the Bus:

Er, Dick is always bragging about how AMD is going to pay Rambus, and Intel sells many more memory controllers that AMD does. On the other hand, Rambus is Intel's own little tar baby, so maybe they get a special exception from the "money for nothing" people.

As for Intel growing out of SDRAM, that is assuming that DRDRAM will suddenly revive in the marketplace, a somewhat dubious assumption given the other news of the last week or so. Even Samsung doesn't seem too enthusiastic about bs-ram anymore. There are alternatives.

Cheers, Dan.

Re: RMBS...Rambus has ALWAYS BEEN an INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY STORY...anyone with a brain expects litigation over IP. I have always held RMBS because of the legitimacy of their IP and its ability to withstand challenge...why panic when the inevitable challenge comes? Especially when the challenge comes from weaker players. This is like a guy breaking into your house and then suing you for making him steal from you. The story is the same, nothing has changed.
