Of course raising rates makes the dollar stronger. But even with the recent rate hikes, productivity has continued, core inflation has remained benign, and the economy continues to chug along, albeit at a slower more sustainable pace. And when you look at US percentage GDP growth, 3% growth in the US often equates to the equivalent of our competitors having to match it with 4-6% growth in order to maintain their market share of the global economy. In fact, the last time I checked the stats, the US GDP had grown from 20% of global GDP before the Asian contagion, to 33% of GDP currently (those stats are about 12 months old, btw.. the percentage is probably higher now). Now if you wish to offer us your version of the world, I would be more than happy to debate the finer points with you. And I would concede easily that you are probably more adept at propaganda than I am... Afterall, the aim of propaganda is to convince people to ignore the facts and discredit the message bearer. What better way than to create the impression that documentable facts can be readily disputed as the product of propaganda? You must be a Democrat... AAfter all, aren't we all seeing the ramping up of the fascinating Clinton/Gore propaganda machine again? Preying on people's fear over "big oil and big pharmaceuticals", or how government will take care of you... without mentioning how it falls to your heirs to pay for those entitlements. Come on Vet... let's see what your made of upstairs.. Give us your version of reality.. En Garde!
