I agree with your comment regarding lawyers.

We've seen this kind of suit before - many times. It's not about the substance of the suit - it's about slowing down a lighter more "fleet-of-foot" competitor. INTC see's BRCM executing and penetrating markets that are targets for INTC and INTC can't stand it. The underlying issue is that INTC is behind BRCM in product development and if by filing a lawsuit they slow BRCM down then perhaps INTC can catch up and grab more of the networking market the so much covet.

So, I don't believe there is any material issue here - other than perhaps the "poaching of employees". The judge may rule on this if in fact BRCM is actively persuing employees at INTC but if INTC employees are sending resumes to BRCM then it's tough luck for INTC. PRoving that BRCM is using IP from newly hired INTC employees will be very difficult.
