I have a long position in BRCM. It looks to me like the suit in state court in California was originally related to BRCM's hiring of former INTC employees and that the Court's order was designed to keep BRCM from using "trade secrets" of INTC obtained from those employees. The patent suit, of course, goes to the validity and breadth of the underlying patents at issue and is quite different. This is just my opinion, of course, but I thought it might be helpful.

GO BRCM!! Historically, Intc sues when they know they cant win in the market. (See Intel v Amd) The fact that Intel has *tried* to sue BRCM for the second time this year should be a very contrarian indicator. Instead, it indicates that Intel regrets investing in BRCM and they fear the not-to-distant future. This sounds like IBM's regrets making early investments in Microsoft; wishing years later they just paid off Bill.

Broadcom has clearly rattled cages at Intel. This is an attempt to slow down Broadcom while Intel retools and tries to figure out what to do. Eventually, we will all stop worrying about x86 architecture chips (see Transmeta, ARM, etc. powering all the handhelds) and Intel will be *doomed*

This is the greatest news about BRCM in a long while.
(If I had any Intel, I would sell it right away!!)

Sounds like you have done your homework on
BRCM history. I have a great deal of equity at risk on BRCM.
Their stock has dropped 35 points in the last 5 days. Should I dump and pay major taxes in April or buy a 6 month put position for insurance? Or, do you see this as a temporary set back. Intel is great at slowing BRCM rate of growth down by creating FUD.Any comments out there?
