JRI, RE: the value of EMC now

100 shares of EMC includes your proportionate share of MCDT.

When the shares are spun off, the price of EMC will decline accordingly, similar to when a stock trades ex-dividend.

Dear JRI: Its my opinion that current EMC prices reflect A PORTION of the MCDT value, however, if its spun off it will likely not cause a drop in EMC price and you will also have the MCDT shares. Why, cause this is NOT a material thing in the big picture. 3.7% is nearly just todays price move alone in EMC. And when you consider the market is only including a portion of the MCDT value in the EMC price its likely less then a good one days stock move. JDN
