FBI, US Attorney's Office Have Emulex Hoax Suspect in Custody Los Angeles, Aug. 31 (Bloomberg) -- The FBI and U.S. Attorney's office said they have a suspect in custody in the case of a fake news release that sent Emulex shares tumbling Friday. The U.S. Attorney's Office and FBI have scheduled a joint news conference in Los Angeles at 11 a.m. local time, said FBI spokesman Matt McLaughlin. The FBI said the suspect is a male and gave no further detail. The FBI's computer-crime squad, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the Chicago Board Options Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Market have investigated the bogus release. The hoax started with an e-mail sent late last Thursday to Internet Wire, a Los Angeles-based public relations firm, which later was picked up by news organizations.
