The part about QCOM employee options deferred compensation expenses is:

As disclosed in their most recent annual report, QUALCOMM has distributed to its employees, executives, directors, etc, a total of 36 million stock options that are exercisable at the weighted-average price of $4.5 per share. The current intrinsic value of these options is $2.3 billion (calculated by taking the current stock price minus the the weighted-average strike price). We choose to treat the intrinsic value of these stock options as unpaid compensation expenses and show them as a liability to the company.

My comment: Actually, compared to a lot of hitech companies, this is not much at all. When YHOO's outstanding employee options are all exercised, the float will double. An extreme case. It's nice to see someone paying attention to the Creative Accounting.
