Yo DS,

<< Outlook, I hope, but not "express" >>

I would be very curious about why you say that. Seriously.

Outlook is one of the poorest, most bloated, most undocumented POS I have ever seen come out of MSFT.

How is that for opinionated? <g>

Part of that opinion is based on using the sucker (mail client only) since it's initial release through every upgrade (except the latest MSO2000 SR thing that MSFT perpetrated on its user base which takes the cake for their history of service release fiascoes). In addition, I have also attempted to assist my company in support of our field sales organization that uses it. Not easy. I have half a dozen books on my shelves about Outlook (the best several by Woody Leonhard) and a 100+ pieces out of MSFT's Knowledge base on disk.

I have converted to Outlook Express 5.0 (and use it for both mail and newsgroups replacing Agent for latter). I integrate OE5 with ACT2000! (as I did with Outlook). Against the advice of some knowledgeable IT pros I do have Outlook installed on my primary platform (there IS a conflict potential) since I have several 200+ MB Outlook .pst's archived that could require access.

The long and short of this is that, IMO, Outlook Express 5.50 is a far more trouble free e-mail client for the average (or serious user) than Outlook 2000.

I don't mean to disagree but I thought I should share my opinion on this as a counterpoint. I, my associates, My IT manager, and his staff, have quite a few Outlook scars.

Best,

- Eric -

OT: DS, imo : Outlook is a POS. u would be better off sticking to a POP/IMAP client (depending on what your ISP supports). If your ISP supports web browser clients, that may be even better (depending on space limitations they impose), coz then you could get to the same mailbox, regardless of the PC/internet-cafe-kiosk u chose to use.

POP clients : Eudora, Outlook Express, Communicator
IMAP clients : Outlook Express, Communicator

cheers, kumar
