Well, being a big proponent of free speech (my profile quote came from the Free Speech Movement), I tend not to believe in too many restrictions. (The usual "fire in a theater" type is good), and I believe that even people like the Klan should have their chance to march..after all, if they can be stopped, then so can I. However, some months after the FSM, there was a Filthy Speech Movement that died from lack of support.

There are certain words (only one) that my dad told us to never say in his presence. (I still don't). However, it doesn't take a stranger to come in my house and say those words to my kids. My 12 year old daughter picked them up in school; everything is almost as invisible and pervasive as the telecommunication beams around us all. As long as it doesn't get hateful, I don't care what you say in my house. Besides, even friends get mad at friends.
(Actually, I may have contributed, via my yellow dawg demokid to Polvie, but I apologize, 'cuz I thought that was PM ..I still quite haven't figured things out, but I really love the inbox feature).

Censorship leads to PCness. PC leads to (Newsweek story)...

"In Canton, Ohio, a 6 year old boy who jumped from his bathtub and ran to a window to stop a school bus was suspended by his school for sexual harassment. The boy's mother said she put him in the tub so he wouldn't see the bus go by; he had a doctors' appointment and couldn't attend school that morning. But,when his sister told him she saw the bus coming, the tyke ran to the window and shouted for the driver to wait. Since he was nude at the time, the school ruled that he had harassed youngsters on the bus. The school forced him to sign a paper admitting that he knew the nature of the charges against him."

Have a good vacation, Clappy.(And a good weekend to all...drive careful... let's not have any ER stuff)
