Rob, <Compaq released their whitepaper "Alpha and IA64" 5 days after MPR forum in 1999. They are more than standing by their stance that it is a "dumb machine".>

Well duh; I'd expect nothing less than the worst from Alpha marketing.

<The Emperor has no clothes>

Meanwhile Alpha continues to slip and slip not only in schedule, but also in marketshare and mindshare. Why are you strangely silent on this issue? EV7 was supposed to be released early next year. Now it seems that's the timeframe of the 1 GHz Alpha 21264, and it'll be a stretch to see EV7 beat even McKinley's arrival on the market.

Maybe that's why you're slinging mud at Itanium. If your product looks bad, try your darnest to make the competition's product look even worse.

P.S. - I forgot to ask earlier. Does the 21364 have an L3 cache? My understanding was that it doesn't have one, nor does it need one because the RDRAM is so close to the processor.
