Uncle Frank, you know loads more about Qualcomm and CDMA than I do. So I certainly believe you that Qualcomm will win any technological competition. But can it foil thieves? The competition seems to be between pure QUALCOM CDMA and stolen CDMA + some GSM addons, not between CDMA and some inferior technology. I'm sure that QCOM can win the former competition in the U.S. where the courts will protect. I'm less sure that QCOM can win it world wide where Nokia and NTT DoCoMo have in effect announced that they will produce CDMA without paying QCOM anything for the patents. WCDMA is simply that, an announcement of intended theft.

In essence, all that the "GSM cabal" has done is delay the appreciation of Qualcomm's stock price, not 3G. If shareholders are patient, they will prosper as the reality of the situation sinks in to the carriers and Mr. Market. You and Abbey think alike. From this month's Money Magazine's interview with Abbey C Question. Should investors be concerned about the increased volatility in the stock market? Abbey. Today's volatility is normal. We now have a situation where people are paying about what they should be for stocks. So if there is disappointment, people get ticked off. Investors have to keep in mind if they've done the fundamental homework properly, things will ultimately come their way. They might not have gratification between now and next Tuesday, but it will happen. Since the proper fundamental homework never stops around here, we should all come out fine in time. 100
