Dear Tony: I see you and I share common feelings as to QCOM. I say, if QCOM is a gorilla, then I'm a Monkeys Uncle!! (gg) JDN

Hi Tony....

, what are they talking about on the G&K boards these days?

I've followed the G&K discussion since March '99. The merits of that Board are at least twofold:
1. To clarify and extend Geoffrey's Moore interpretation of the Technology Adoption Life Cycle, and the Competitive Advantage Period.
2. To understand and pick out young tech companies with a dominant product.

The discussants on G&K are not perfect. But as a group of 30 or 40 active participants, driven by a common belief or set of rules (ie, The Gorilla Game), I think it's been the most valuable time I've ever spent in investing.

Last year, they picked out Qualcomm earlier than most, and continue to believe that as a long term buy and hold, it will be Intellian/Ciscoean over the next 5-10 years.

Some, not all, were pessimistic about Intel. Partly because Intel has certainly misfired on occasion, partly because the PC area has lost some momentum/cache and is now overshadowed by the Internet, and partly because of momentum buying by some. I stuck with Intel, and did some others......interestingly, this year (very much a reversal for many issues, not just Qualcomm), has been an Intel year, is a clear leader among known Kings & Gorillas, and even the naysayers from last year have bought back in.

Intel is steady, but not glamorous. Those who bought back in, and those who have held on, do so because it is steady and a lifeboat in stormy seas, such as what we have witnessed the past 5 months. Also, because Intel is clearly diversifying into other areas for chip sales, where potential growth will be much higher than that of PC CPUs.

It's a much more attentive crowd, WRT to Intel, and your presence is desired. Apart from the Intel stuff, there is a high octane group of people that have taught many of us a great deal. But it requires following the thread religiously for an extended period of time.

BTW, on G&K, there's lots of enthusiasm for Gemstar, NTAP, and SanDisk among others. I conducted a Thread Survey in April. See below:
