So, what's the problem here? You don't like prosperity?
On come on now, Rarebird, you know better than that.
And if this election is solely about religion or the moral majority in your eyes, then I suggest that you're just one more victim of the Clinton/Gore campaign of domestic terror. Yeah.. it's a right wing conspiracy when people wonder why Vince Foster whacks himself but no one can find the evidence that suggests he actually did it at Ft. Marcy park (I've personally been out there several times myself).
It's a right wing conspiracy when people wonder why Hillary's subpoenaed, but missing, Rose Law Firm billing records suddenly appear in Vince Foster's office.
It's a right wing conspiracy when the entire While House travel office (made up of non-political appointees) is fired and accused of incompetence and fraud. And it was part of that same conspiracy that Bill and Hillary's personal hollywood friends, Harry Thomason and his wife, were selected as the replacements for fulfilling White House travel arrangements...
And it was a right wing conspiracy in which Bill was set up with a Right wing operative, Monica Lewinsky, who compromised him sexually and then ratted him out to Matt Drudge.
And then it was a right wing conspiracy that the definition of "is" was altered in the '90s edition of Webster's.
An then it was a right wing conspiracy that prevented Les Aspin, former SecDef, from being prudent enough to send the requested armored quick reaction force to Somalia, which had it been there, would have saved countless American lives.
And then it was a right wing conspiracy that caused Clinton to bomb an pharmaceutical plant on the spurious suspicion of nerve gas (coincidentally around the same time of the Monica testimony)... and this same conspiracy made him lie to all of us in front under oath.
And it was that same right wing conspiracy that has absolutely DEVASTATED military readiness... (It's why I left after 14 years of active and reserve service in '98).
And it's funny how you are trying to harangue Bush about whether or not he used Cocaine. I really could care less. What I care about is whether or not he is CURRENTLY using it. He basically said "no comment", neither confirming or denying. But what's different is that Bill LIES about his usage (ohh... I didn't inhale).. My @SS!!! I met a reservist in Panama who was an Arkansas State Trooper, and had formerly been on Clinton's protection detail. He would certainly suggest an alternative history. Hell, even Roger Clinton once remarked that his brother had a nose "like a vacuum cleaner".. This was the same brother that went to jail for cocaine, btw...
But let's put that into context with regard to Gore... I have no idea whether or not he's ever used drugs in his life, but I imagine he has when he was younger. But what galled me, as I've stated before, was how he yanked everyone's hearts with his tortured crying over his sister's death. He told us all how bad smoking was and what he was going to do to destroy the tobacco industry to keep anyone else's relatives from dying that way.
Yeah.. right... I didn't see him taking that stance when he was a pro-tobacco Senator from Tennessee, having been the son of a former Senator and properous tobacco farmer. Didn't see him give back any of that money or the silver spoon he was born with in his mouth, either...
"Nope.. just saw his utter contempt for the "stupidity" of the american people. Wrench their emotions, tell them I'm going to take care of those nasty tobacco companies who killed my sister, and dismiss any comments about my former PRO-TOBACCO political stance or my daddy's tobacco business."
It was disgusting Rarebird...seeing that in '96. It nauseated me then, and still does to this day. Especially as I see the tobacco industry RAPED by the government, and ordered to pay $200 Billion in penalties to the state governments, 80% of which is going right into the general state tax revenue base, and NOT BEING SPENT on demand reduction or anti-smoking campaigns.
And as for GW's compassion... I didn't see the "snicker" you're talking about.. but y'know something... this was a killer who was being executed. I don't have a whole of compassion for a compassionless murderer. People seldom receive the death penalty when they show substantial remorse for their horrendous crimes at the time of their trial. They receive the death penalty because they are socio-pathic predators who would be quite likely repeat their homocide whenever they had the opportunity.
Once someone is tried, convicted, and sentenced, it is TOO LATE FOR DEATHBED REPENTANCE. If she had showed a little remorse at the time during her trial she would have received life imprisonment instead.
Look at her crime:
The Texas "rap sheet," the state Department of Criminal Justice's inmate case brief, summarizes her testimony: Garrett bashed Dean in the head with a hammer, and Tucker grabbed a pickax to silence a "gurgling sound" Dean was making.
Tucker and Garrett also attacked Deborah Thornton, a friend of Dean's, with the pickax. Both bodies had more than 20 stab wounds. Tucker said she felt each stroke sexually, a claim she later recanted.

Sorry Rarebird... Sexual excitement during a murder is a sign of psychopathy, bordering on predatory mass murder. And that is something that no amount of religion will resolve since the sickness is too acute. Certainly not 20 years later. If she is repentant, god will forgive her, and she will forgive us and understand why no one was willing to commute her sentence. In fact, she is probably very pleased to be hanging out with the big guy...
I know I'm a bit jealous.
One more point... had it not been for the inordinately LONG and UNREASONABLY LENGTHY appeals process, she would have been executed long ago. There was not reasonable doubt... no DNA test required... there was admission of guilt... Pretty clear cut to me, Rarebird.
And btw, did you know that Hillary Clinton was a legal intern for the marxist lawyer, Treuhef(sic), who defended the Black Panthers?? While you're sitting here trying to make the sons pay for the sins of the fathers, I just want the kids to stop trying to convince us that the sky is black and not blue. I'm tired of the fearmongering.
I'm under no illusions here and I am hoping for a Republican Congress.
AMEN!!! I think it's about time that we have a Republican congress and a republican administration and quit the BS compromises with the extremists on EITHER SIDE. Bush is to the center. His father is a man of integrity. Get a government that is accountable and can not blame the other party for the failures of their administration.
In one regard, I would have to say that this is one advantage of a parlimentary government in that the buck stops with the Prime Minister and the coalition government he puts together. He takes the blame, and not so much the coalition members who are quite prostituting in their allegiance.
But then we have the tyranny of the masses and the potential for even more corruption. Six of one and 1/2 dozen of another.
