You're really reaching now, TexasDude... <vbg> Btw, maybe you should look at Big Al and his Harvard activities:Some of Gore's friends believed that the radicals tried to engage him in hopes that recruiting a senator's son would enhance their cause. Kilbreth said that notion never crossed his mind. "Recruiting anybody was useful, but I don't think any of us at the time thought Gore was that interesting. We were much more interested in the people who were activists and intellectuals, and Gore was none of those." washingtonpost.com And my point about Bush hanging low, was that he probably wants Gore to commit himself to an agenda that he can pick apart and counter with one of his own, not that he is desperate. GW didn't obtain that early lead out of thin air.... The guy has the ability to reach out and make you feel like he could be someone you could hang out and have a beer with... I could't even think about going out and drinking with Bore,... err.. I mean Gore. Let's face some facts here.. on the issue of what far-reaching policies they would be responsible for, neither one will diverge too far from the middle ground. But it's clearly an issue of Gore's vulnerability on his fund-raising shenanigans and actions with regard to the premature granting of citizenship to un-vetted applicants in order to capture their votes and sway the '96 election. With Bush, I highly doubt we're going to be seeing too many investigations with regard to his activities in Texas. He'll be a president that will be able to build consensus and give us all a fresh start after the past 8 years of scandal, investigations, and extremism. So you can cast your vote as you like, but I'm sick of the special prosecutors, of the Waco-style Federal high-handedness, whether it be against cults, or to retrieve Elian Gonzalez in pre-dawn raids. And most of all, I'm sick of someone sending me on a "guilt-trip" and playing class warfare between the rich, not so rich, and the poor. I want to see this government quit handing out money carte blanche on welfare, and INVESTING IT INTO PEOPLE, educating them to take care of themselves. Giving people choices where they can get help and training when needed, but can't sit on their butts when they could be working. This welfare system as we knew it was changed by the Republican governor of Wisconsin, Tommy Thompson. Workfare finally came of age ONLY when we had a Republican majority and Clinton was faced with having his veto over-ridden in Congress. So he did the next best thing and passed it, and then stamped it as HIS idea... The worst thing that can happen with a Bush administration and a republican congress is that some common sense will finally be able to be brought to bear in government and setting the parameters of where govt is necessary and where the private market can handle a problem. Al Gore is doing nothing more than fear-mongering and spending your kids money. That prescription drug program is an entitlement that will never die. Something far better is to encourage pharmaceutical companies to provide drugs at a cheaper rate to those who can't afford them. They already do this to some degree. Subsidize it if necessary... But for god's sake don't create another medicare nightmare that has to be administered, staffed, and funded forever. Regards, Ron
