Nother thought. I just networked my computer with wifie's so that we could both use a cable modem. If I can talk her into it, could I just transfer the data to a new partition on her HD? She has plenty of free space.

I couldn't agree more.
Yet every bleeping Compaq PC comes from the factory that way. On the 4 GB drive my former Compaq had, 1 GB was devoted to the D partition for imaging. Recent CPQ laptops I checked in stores still have this unwise arrangement.
